They both leave the party and spend some time at Martha’s place.

Mistresses of Seduction#

Beatrice spends some time drinking with Bouchard and learns what is already known about the Krewe and its members. She then introduces herself to Barbara as Stephanie and both go out on their own for smoke and a drink.

Barbara gets inebriated and discloses everything she knows about Chet and Papa Screech. She then spends the night with Bobby, an opium dealer and a friend of Beatrice’s.

The Shrine#

Lucidia & Raymond hang around until Fowler leaves the house. They explore the place and in the Shrine Room they find an English copy of the King in Yellow, as well as a piece of paper with a ritual to summon Hastur on the 15th of February at 11pm.

Raymond takes a ragdoll and a porcelain necklace, that belonged to Fowler’s daughter and wife. Before they leave, they make sure that it looks like a burglary took place.

Lucidia’s House - Noon#

The investigators gather at Lucidia’s at around noon.

Raymond buried the mementos in a grave for unnamed people. Then spent the morning studying the ritual and understanding its meaning.

Lucidia read the “King in Yellow” taken from Fowler’s house. She black out after reading Act I.

Alistair visited the police and learned about a police officer named Robert Swanson, who claimed to have seen something in the raid that the others didn’t. He got his home address in Algiers.

Beatrice spent the morning sleeping.

Looking for Work#

Raymond talked to the right people and found out that he could potentially get a job at Houma. A truck full of workers departs every morning for Houme.

The Bokor#

Beatrice visits the Most Honorable Krewe of Swords offices looking for Dennis Bouchard. Instead, she meets Papa Screech who tells her about the Yellow Sign and Randal Fowler.

Papa Screech

Lucidia walks past the “Krewe’s Warehouse” and then heads to Fowler’s Shipping Company. She manages to meet Randall Fowler to talk about business investments. She confides in him with her interest in the occult after hearing Papa Screech’s name. He tells her about his late wife and daughter and how the voodoo man helped him get in touch with them. Before she departs, Fowler gives an invitation to the party.

Swanson’s Testimony#

Alistair pays a bodyguard to escort him to Algiers. He meets Swanson who is willing to talk to him but loses it and attacks Alistair when he is shown the Yellow Sign. The bodyguard prevented any injuries.

Swanson said that he saw something else out on the lake, a hideous shape, gigantic and white. That damnable glimpse has haunted his dreams with the Yellow Sign ever since.

Lucidia’s House - Evening#

The investigators gather at Lucidia’s place and discuss their next actions. They decide to spend the night staking out Fowler’s Mansion:

Alistair and Lucidia would take the first watch from midnight until 4am, while Beatrice and Raymond would take it until 8 in morning.

The Love Note#

When Alistair returns to his house, he finds a letter from Martha and a note lipstick-stained note mentioning “Doghouse Jazz Club – 11PM”. He ignores Martha’s letter and heads to the club.

Beatrice hears him sneaking out of the house and confronts him.

Doghouse Jazz Club#

Alistair meets Barbara at the club. After spending a little time with her, he notices two bouncers watching him. His attempt to escape fails miserably and is dragged into Chet Craighten car, which drives off into the night.

The Mad Hatter#

While Lucidia waits outside Fowler’s Mansion for Alistair to arrive, she notices something watching her. A figure dressed in a Mad Hatter costume, waving at her.

When she returns the gesture, the figure approaches her, spins around itself and asks her in a whispering voice: “Have you seen the Yellow Sign?”
