Hospitalized#

Agent Jocko attempts to collect the corral snake’s head, but fumbles with his grip and the animal’s poisoned teeth sink into the flesh of his hand. Agent Locke drives him to the closest hospital and stays with him until late at night.

At the hospital, Agent Locke finds out Agent Jocko unconscious and under attack from a rabid bat. She tosses the creature into a garbage bin.

Finally, she manages to complete additional research on St. Laurence Church, graffities and the Zoe Pound Gang. She sends all this information to the other agents and cautions them to keep an eye out for someone with a Puma tattoo.

Volunteer Work#

Agent Mira and Nikita attempt to blend in by offering donations and signing up for volunteer work. Fr. Robledo can see through their acting.

Agent Mira talks to Fr. Robledo about the shelter and graffiti. He is reluctant to talk about the latter.

Agent Nikita talks to Jaivon Simon, age 9, an abused child of homeless addicts. He draws angelic caricatures for her and gifts them to her. Nikita noticed that Jaivon is holding a small blanket with the same cartoon cat in front of the Cornucopia Cat folder.

She then takes some time to introduce herself and discuss some matters with volunteer nurse Guadalupe Chavez.

Midnight Visitations#

The group of agents converge at the hospital. Agent regains his consciousness.

They discussed Fr. Robledo agenda, the possibility of Conradin being the leader of Zoe Gang Group, and where to go next.

The Morning “Call”#

Agent Locke wakes up in seizures and severe nosebleeds. She realizes that a syncretic force beneath reality has discovered, through eons of experimentation, a statistical ensemble and sequence of subatomic particle manipulations specific to her brain to communicate something of its nature.

She dreamt of a universe made of a single organism, dying and racing to escape. She “sees” dark matter between the circuits that make up the circulatory system of God. She feels a hunger of cosmic vastness. A chain around the neck that has choked it for eons. The experience is agonizing!

Miami Vice#

Agents Mira and Nikita visit the police impound lot in Flagami district to investigate Pitzerelli’s tip on Cunningham’s family SUV car. The only thing of notice was an ASL (American Sign Language) book in the glove compartment.

Agents Jocko and Locke use Miami’s FBI Office facilities to dig up information from federal databases on Zoe Pound Gang (leader Matt Donaldson), Jennifer Wills, Conradin Hopko, Thomas Perez, St. Lawrence Church.

Gaining nothing new, they head to “Ugly Joe’s Dinner” wearing MAGA caps. After lunch, and a lot of coffee cups, Agent Locke unsuccessfully attempts to gain access to FBI Case 07-195121.

Confessions#

In the early evening, the agents head to St. Laurence Church, bent to find out more on the children.

Agent Mira reveals to Fr. Robledo all about Ball, Gable, Philip and Perez. Robledo remembers Gable, Ball, and Wills back in 2011, when they were 14 or 15. All violent and terrifying all the other children. There was one more with them called Phillip. He often fought with the others because he preferred to speak, but they seemed to find it useful to have him speak for them. He told many of the stories that became a complex local mythology surrounding the Quiet Children and Silence Slaves

Agent Jocko pretended to be Locke’s husband and investigated the premises for bat nests. He happens to meet Rannier Perry, volunteer tutor.

Agent Locke offers her services as a paramedic and attempts to help and talk to children in the shelter.

Agent Nikita approaches Jaivon. He trusts her enough to tell her a secret:

Quiet Children have special powers. They can see past the tricks of the Hungry Mother. They sometimes know what’s about to happen and how to avoid it. They can come to harm, but only when they wish to. The Quiet Children test each other to make sure they have the strength to fight the Hungry Mother’s servants. The tests are brutal, sometimes deadly. Their Silence Slaves call it “sharpening”.
