King-Torino Children’s Refuge, Thursday September 8th, 2016 – 19:30 pm
Wendy and Jocko drive Nika Chilikov to the closest hospital in Charlotte, NC. On the way there, Nika’s answers their questions. Certain key points were:
- Some people came and stopped what was happening at Cornucopia House.
- She was brough in in 2001. Dr. Sarah Brice guided her through the pain of her trauma.
- The others, Jennifer Wills, Elle Gable and Conradin Hopko, were younger than her. They were the Quiet Children. They never forgave her for accepting speech.
- The sketches are a means of communication to them.
- What is happening is supposed to happen. It cannot be changed. It’s predetermined.
Emma and Lance remain at King Torino’s to handle the police investigation. The story they narrate:
- They came here to investigate Elle Gable’s past.
- They noticed a man wielding bolt cutter, followed by a black bear, who threatened the children’s lives.
- They intervened and saved their lives.
- Nika Chilikov was seriously injured and required urgent medical care.
Lance leaves Pitzerelli a message regarding events involving Nika Chilikov and Samuel Ball.
Confessions
After arriving to the hospital, the doctors take Chilikov and ask us some questions about the event and how it happened. We tell them everything and we “push” them to do an MRI too. Jocko decides to stay in the hospital with Chilikov.
20:00 – Nika is hospitalized. Wendy lets the others know about Jennifer Wills, Elle Gable and Conradin Hopko.
Jocko confides in Wendy that he sees her as motherly figure.
Pitzerelli informs Wendy that the fingerprints found on the St. Laurence pamphlet have Elle Gables prints on it.
23:30 – Jocko stays in the hospital with Nika for the rest of the night. Believe that she is sleeping, he confides his deepest secrets to her. She responds by doing something similar:
- The people in the house “loved the thing in the woods” or “were pets to the big god.”
- “We were allowed to keep pet animals because they loved us back, and we kept them safe by doing what mamas and papas said. We had to love them too, even though it hurt. They had to love the big god and do what he said, even though it hurt.”
- “The younger kids were pets to the other god. The secret god. The god with no name. Love hurt too much. The small ones wanted a god that hated with them.”
- “The older ones, like me, were too loud. He didn’t talk to us.”
- “The dead tree is where Conrad was being taken to, to get punished.”
02:00 - Jocko goes to the vending machines to get a black monster energy drink. Instead of a drink a bat drops from the machine. It attacks Jocko but he manages to dodge it. He cuts off its head and then spits her with some energy drink he just bought.
Research
Lance and Emma gain access to King Torino’s archives. They understand that they assigned the difficult cases to Chilikov. They manage to find Nika’s Thesis and King Torino Files on Chilikov, Gable, Wills and Hopko. Emma studies the thesis and finds out about a “ScribeLife420” who got in touch with Nika, after Dr. Brice’s death, and offered to help her finish her work.

Emma didn’t manage to sleep again. Wendy tries to find 420 guy unsuccesfully.
Danny’s Donuts - Thursday, September 8th, 2016
Jocko drives Nika to a doughnut house and meets with the rest of the agents. We get a table at Danny’s and order some milkshakes and donuts.
They propose to her to join in, but she refuses. She wants to remain close to the children.
She is taken back to King-Torino’s, after visiting the police station first to have her testify. Jocko confirms he had to kill Samuel Ball in self-defense. When we left her back to King’s Torini, we notice that the kids follow her as their cult leader. Something is fishy…
The Herding
At King Torino, Nika is surrounded by a dozen young children that flock to her. She manages them as a herd. She comforts them calmy and forgives those who cry or scream.
The director, Rebecca Harris, thanks the agents for their help.
Lance purchases another burner phone, and shares the number with Chilikov, for her to use in case of emergency.
Driving South
The agents leave Charlotte and drive southwards for 12 hours to get to Fort Myers, FL. Events during the road trip:
- Wendy fails to find anything of interest when checking out the footage from the CCTV cameras in the neighborhood where Houghton’s Corolla was found. She falls asleep.
- Emma manages to get some much-needed sleep (Crit roll).
- Jocko plays around with a newly acquired heavy rifle and learns stuff about crocodiles and alligators on the internet.
- Lance talks to his wife on the phone. He didn’t want to share his whereabouts, but mentions he is going somewhere to the south where the climate is tropical.
Florida South-Western State College, Fort Myers, Saturday September 10th, 2016 – 11:00 am
The agents arrive in Fort Myers and drive to Florida South-Western State College. They find their way to the library where they meet Jay Olivera, assistant librarian, who is intimidated into providing information on Crystal Killian by handing out her personnel file.

Crystal Killian a.k.a. Agent Clove
Jocko recognizes Agent Clove when he is shown a picture of Crystal Killian. Searching her office, he finds that she had a salary of only $18K a year, and that she spent a lot of time, during late hours reading library records in genealogy, criminology, and the occult.

Wendy, taking a gentler approach with Jay Olivera, finds out that:
- He regularly saw Crystal Killian at Joe Mama’s Swamp Shack, a dive bar near the Myers Point Trailer Park.
- She drank there nightly and occasionally took home some of the regulars.
- He got the impression she was more put together than the rest of the barflies.
- She always pretended not to recognize him. She kept that part of her life separate from her job.
