Baltimore Airport - Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 – 16:00 pm#

The agents find out that they are on a no-fly list. Pitzerelli confirms it. They won’t be allowed to get on a plane until this whole matter is resolved. Emma is furious about it.

Wendy asks Tony to look for any information related to St. Laurence Church.

Lance contacts his friend Maximilian Salamanca Jonson, and asks him to help them with the no-fly list. The agents eventually are allowed to get on board the airplane to Charlotte, NC. Lance calls Melinda and they have some small talk. He mentions that he is going to get out of state.

While travelling we find some info about King Torino. Kind Torino has 3 floors and on the third floor are the children’s rooms. They have a night shift. In ground floor there is a kitchen and living rooms for the children, there are also some teaching classes. There are 3 rooms that are isolation cells.

Mrs Rebecca Harris - Director Elizabeth Hall - Assistant Director

Charlotte, NC - Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 – 20:30 pm#

The agents arrive in Charlotte and shortly after they book rooms in a motel.

Lance sends a message to Maximilian to thank him for the flight.

Lance calls King Torino and a guard informs him that he should call in the morning.

Emma and Wendy drive to a local police station to inquire about the Toyota Corola, but they don’t manage to get any information.

Wendy searches on the internet for information on the refuge’s staff members in an attempt to exploit them and gain access to children’s records but draws a blank. Her attempts to hack into their online databases also fail.

Jocko and Lance explore the area around King-Torino Children’s Refuge.

  • From the distance they hear screaming from children in psychotic meltdowns.
  • At around midnight, things seem to calm down.
  • There are no guards outside.
  • There is a wire fence around the perimeter of the refuge.
  • Only a couple of security cameras outside the main entrance to the building and the one leading to the playground.

A bat unsuccessfully attacks Jocko after his reconnaissance mission at King-Torino’s Children’s Refuge. Jocko steps on it and kills it with anger…

Wendy checks about more info for King Torino and the people involved.

She managed to create a phising document to be used in King Torino tomorrow.

We finish the day with some amazing Carolina fried chicken.

Charlotte, NC - Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 – Until 18:00 pm#

The agents visit the neighborhood in which Houghton’s car was found. They learned from the neighbours that the car was abandoned for at least 2 weeks. The car is full of garbage and rotten food. Their investigation results in weeks long CCTV footage from three different houses.

During lunch break, they receive Pitzerelli’s information on Crystal Killian:

  • PHOTOS AND SOCIAL MEDIA: No pictures of Crystal Killian are available online or on any federal database. If she has a social media presence, it’s indistinguishable from dozens of another Crystal Killian’s in Florida. The body no longer has enough identified features for image recognition software.
  • FEDERAL RECORDS: Her birth certificate and Social Security number, issued in Alaska in 1982, indicate she was 34 years old at the time of death. She had no job history or tax records before 2008, when she took her one and only job at Florida SouthWestern State College as a library assistant.
  • FLORIDA RECORDS: She has no listed assets, no car, and no driver’s license. She never voted in an election. She rented her trailer at Myers Point and took the bus to work.
  • ALASKA RECORDS: An Alaska high school equivalence diploma was reissued from the private company FOCUS Homeschooling in 2007, with a note in state records indicating that the original diploma was earned in 1998 and reissued due to “a loss of records.” Her only listed relation is her father Hlachi Killian, aka Hlachi Sakari, a member of the native Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association who died of cancer in 1997. He was paid $12,000 by Alaska as part of the 1987 Proposal of the Aleutian and Pribilof Restitution Act, but he otherwise didn’t enjoy any more records of existence than his daughter.

King-Torino Children’s Refuge, Thursday September 7th, 2016 –18:00 pm#

The agent arrive at King-Torino Children’s Refuge. Jocko and Emma decide to stay in their rented vehicle, about 100 meters away from the building. Wendy and Lance head inside. Wendy is extra careful not to show her face in the camera, by using the MAGA caps.

They find their way to the office of the facilities director, Mrs. Rebecca Harris. During their discussion, they convince her to assist them in their investigation of a murder committed by a person who used to be a patient in King-Torino Children’s Refuge.

Lance realizes that one of the staff members is Nika Chilikov, one of the Cornucopia children. Both agents leave the office after telling the director that they will be back later. On their way to the vehicle, they hear screams and cries from the playground.

Samuel Ball and the Black Bear#

Wendy finds shelter in the car. Emma remains outside, close to her. Lance and Jocko rush to the playground.

They see a thin white man wearing only cargo pants that barely hang on his wasting hips. His flesh is pocked with sores and improvised tattoos. His left hand drags a pair of bolt-cutters with his sinewy, almost double-jointed arm.

The deranged man twists at the waist to survey his surroundings, unable to turn his neck due to some rictus in the tendons. He seems disoriented and uncertain until he sees the Agents, at which point he loses some barbaric “yawp” of joy. They recognize him as Samuel Ball.

Some huge, loping, four-legged shape comes through the same gap in the arborvitae and sprints toward Chilikov. A black bear!

Ball withdraws into the trees and bushes.

Lance realizes that Chilikov will not retreat to the house unless the children are safe. She is trying to get the attackers’ attention, giving the kids time to run.

Jocko sees the running straight at them. It means to kill them. Someone better shoot straight because they won’t get more than one chance.

The Aftermath#

Samuel Ball dies after Jocko slices his throat with his combat knife. It felt like he wanted to die. His eyes were full of reverence and ecstasy, as he stared his killer.

Nika Chilikov is taken to a hospital by the agents. She was badly mauled by the bear.

Emma did her best to protect Chilikov and Lance.

Lance, after multiple attempts to stop the bear by killing it, ultimately drove it off through sheer force of will—he wished for it to leave, and it did.
